Vucevic Stats – Looking at the box score after a Bulls game doesn’t really explain how important Nikola Vucevic is. It plays well and is not well said.
Vucevic is a very special man and a special role that suits him well. The Bulls use him as the center of the offense for their half court. He touches the ball 72.5 times per game and will be counted on to keep the offense going.
When it comes to creating the ball, the Chicago Bulls have two absolute studs in Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan. They are easy for Vucevic because they force teams to go inside them and on offense. This allows the Vuc to act as an exhaust valve in pick-and-roll situations.
Nikola Vucevic Is A Barometer For The Bulls
Nikola Vucevic is good at shooting, especially when the action represents 3-pointers off the break. He is shooting 43% (26-60fg) from the zone on 5.4 attempts per game over his last 11 games. Having a big that can step out and knock down threes really stretches the defense around the basket.
Opposing teams have tough choices to make when defending the Bulls in the pick-and-pop and pick-and-roll. Will they let LaVine and DeRozan attack down the hill? Will Vucevic be allowed to have an open mind of the three? That’s one of the reasons Vucevic is so important to the Bulls’ offensive success.
Speaking of exhaust valves, making a rifle is only one part of the story. You need to be able to take advantage of the close range that is created and the space that is created by playing two pick-and-rolls. Nikola Vucevic is one of the best passers in a short career in the entire NBA.
The opposing team will have trouble choosing what they want to pick up in the collection and roll; Will they come out and recover? Will they choose screen blitz? What about insurance failures? Well, the best thing about having Vucevic on your team is that you’ll always have an answer because he’s a great scout and really quick on the court.
Most Improved Player: Jrue Holiday 5th, Nikola Vucevic 4th, Paul George Wins
Currently, Nikola Vucevic has five touches in one game. Not only is he a scoring threat on the block, but he is also a passing threat. It can actually hold and turn to see the whole floor. When a group shows their hand in what their turn will be, it turns on and throws dimes to the shooters and cutters. His side of the game is another thing he adds to this dangerous Bulls offense.
A large pass will always put pressure on the defense. Having to protect the perfect tandem of Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan during the night before putting their hair on fire as they thought about how to protect them. Now, the opponents will have to worry about the next step: when they will take the ball out of their hands, what will happen to the seven-foot center who can score and make plays to help the team.
The Bulls currently rank fourth in the NBA in offensive rating at 112.0 and are in the top 10 in turnovers and turnovers at 1.8. Undoubtedly, Vucevic is an important part of this quality.
Now Nikola Vucevic is playing well in defense. He’s blocking 1.5 shots per game over his last 10 games. Not only does he block shots, but he hasn’t changed his discipline in staying on his feet and keeping his arms out as he dodges rioters’ guns.
New Bulls Center Nikola Vucevic:
A seven-footer will never be known as Rudy Gobert’s style, and that’s fine. The ability to easily block attackers and fast players because he is a big man who works well. Watching Vucevic play the drop game with his wide and long arms is like watching a seven-foot Gibbon on the hardwood.
In the video below, Chris Duarte receives a pull screen from Carys LeVert, Duarte breaks it up and passes it to Domantas Sabonis, who throws it back to Duarte. This move puts Vucevic in a stop position and he moves his feet well and stays in front of Duarte as he goes down. When Duarte passed the ball back to Sabonis, Vucevic did an exceptional job of turning his hips and staying upright as he spun and made the block.
All of these examples of what Vucevic brings every night are exactly what the Bulls team needs. In the past, Chicago had to support all these different skills and different players, whether it was shooting from Lauri Markkanen or hitting from Wendell Carter Jr. and Daniel Gafford. Vucevic gives the Bulls everything at once, and his passing is the cherry on top.
Watching Nikola Vucevic is a treat for all Bulls fans. If you don’t look beyond the stats, you’ll miss all the fun.
