A former professional basketball player and majority owner of ASVEL Basket and LNB Pro, A. Parker, himself a basketball professional, began his career with Paris Basket Racing in the French Basketball League before joining the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Spurs selected him 28th overall in the 2001 NBA Draft, and he quickly became their starting point guard. Parker won four NBA championships (2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014), all with the Spurs. He also played for ASVEL Basket in France during the 2011 NBA lockout and ended his playing career with the Charlotte Hornets for one season. He retired as the ninth leading scorer and fifth leading scorer in NBA history.

Parker was named to six NBA All-Star games, two All-NBA Second Teams, an NBA Third Team and was named the 2007 NBA Finals MVP. He was also a member of the All-Rookie First Team and the Spurs went No. 9. He is considered one of the greatest European players of all time.
