Spurs Trade Rumors – The Golden State Warriors have yet to decide what to do with their 2020 NBA draft pick, and recent rumors suggest they will trade to another team to acquire the established star. The Warriors are set to enter a very entertaining offseason after a tumultuous 2020/21 NBA season where they had the worst record in the league (15-50).
Now they have Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, the No. 2 overall pick behind them and a chance to land a star using that pick.
Spurs Trade Rumors
NBA columnist Austin Krell reported that the Warriors could be involved in a three-team trade with the San Antonio Spurs and Atlanta Hawks. Krell said the Warriors will pick No. 2 and trade Andrew Wiggins to land LaMarcus Aldridge.
San Antonio Spurs: Lamarcus Aldridge Reacts To Offseason Trade Rumors
The Warriors could get the big man they want in Aldridge, the Spurs would get the No. 2 overall pick to land a big-time developmental prospect in Gregg Popovich, and the Hawks would get another player to help Trae Young in Atlanta.
This offseason is expected to be very exciting with teams short on time and the Warriors already making moves behind the scenes. This would be a very good deal for all three teams involved ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Kevin Durant wryly explains why he turns the ball over so much: “Every night I have five players…” The San Antonio Spurs are a historic franchise. They had a history of being able to find gems and draft well enough to win with a system established by a legendary coach in Gregg Popovich. Coaching has its limits, however, and even when Gregg Popovich found a system that allowed his stars to thrive, the results weren’t there. The Spurs were eliminated in the first round by the Denver Nuggets in 2019 and weren’t even in the playoffs until 2020.
For the Spurs, it’s time to rebuild. No one knows for sure how they’ll go: There are a few directions they could go, and a path to the playoffs if the rebuild/rebuild is done right: The Spurs don’t have great business credentials, but they have a smart GM and some handy bits . Here are some rebuilding steps that will put the Spurs on the path to the playoffs once again.
San Antonio currently has the 11th pick in the draft. The Spurs will use this pick to draft a multi-position defender: defense generally translates better than offense in the NBA, and someone with hustle, above-average athleticism and defense could be a great pick. Two players who will suit up for the 2020 NBA Draft are Precious Achiwa and Jalen Smith. Both are projected to be taken around this pick range, and both could have upside for the Spurs. Both will likely start from the bench and end up as role players: but both can develop into great players, especially at Spurs.
Kawhi Leonard And The Spurs: Rumors, Denials And Fallout
Anmol Achiuwa has great size and athleticism while playing very hard. His stats on the year in Memphis look promising: 15.8 PPG, 10.8 PPG and 1.9 BPG. He has the athleticism to stay in front of perimeter players in small lineups while using that same athleticism to block shots. If developed well, Achiua could turn into a great hoop, scoring plays and rebounding well. His shooting can be developed, but errors are likely: he is a natural.
Jaylen Smith is also playing in the center position. He averaged 15.5 ppg, 10.5 ppg and 2.4 bpg while shooting 36.8% from beyond the arc. He is a true big man who can score well inside while being able to space the floor. Shooting at the center position is extremely valuable, making Smith a valuable prospect by default. Smith could develop into a great stretch 5 at the NBA level if he gets better at perimeter defense and lateral quickness: both things the Spurs can work on.
Spurs are an aging team. It’s wise to rebuild, and more draft picks never hurt. Philadelphia had a lot of options during the process: while it hit some (Michael Carter-Williams and Markelle Fultz) (Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid). The Spurs could similarly draft and do the same. Perhaps the Spurs could be more effective than Philadelphia: They have draft history.
The reason the Spurs will trade up in the 2021 NBA Draft is because they are loaded with talent. The draft is loaded with top consensus talent like Cade Cunningham and Jalen Green, while there are also intriguing late-round prospects like Kai Sotto. The class is just filled with solid players who can develop into great players. If the Spurs acquire some 2021 draft picks, they can easily draft talent that can help them in the future along with their current young core.
Nba Trades: 3 Dejounte Murray Trades For The Spurs To Consider
Dejounte Murray is a defensive guard with an emerging offensive game. He was sidelined for the 2018–2019 season with an ACL injury, but was an All-Defensive selection the previous season. In addition to scoring the ball, he also has the ability to hit the floor and has developed shooting skills. In the Orlando Bubble, he averaged 12.6 PPG, 6.0 RPG and 4.1 APG with 1.4 SPG during his limited playing time. Murray had a few double-doubles in the bubble, but continued to struggle and the Spurs missed the playoffs.
Sometimes, teams leave young players and don’t give them time to develop. This is less likely with the Spurs, as they are one of the most respected franchises in the NBA with competent management and coaching. While they’ve done a great job developing Murray as a player, more minutes might be more beneficial to his development as an all-around point guard who can do everything on the court without over-scoring.
Spurs’ two stars from 2020 were defined by one thing: their affinity for the midfield. LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan are both mid-range masters, but on the court, their spacing is less than desirable due to their inability to extend their jumper beyond the 3PT line. Because of this, the Spurs should target players who can shoot from deep in free agency and trade. These players must also be passable defenders. The Spurs need guys to do two things as part of their culture: take the ball to a shooter and be tough on the defensive end. As such, they need to get back to a winning formula and find some guys who can shoot and defend.
There are several guys that come to mind in free agency. 3 and D types are not the highest paid, but they are valuable types of players to have on your team. Players like Joe Harris and Jae Crowder are available in free agency. Not the flashiest of signings but they get the job done and play hard on both ends. They can both move into limited roles on teams and excel in that role. Both of those things are the value of the Spurs. There are also some fantasy trades they can get their players on: one of them is the Rockets.
Nba Rumors: Ben Simmons Would ‘welcome’ A Trade To The San Antonio Spurs
Under their management, it is suspected that their reconstruction will take a long time. Therefore, they can trade Rudy Gay. Gay is an expiring contract, while he’s a solid player that doesn’t fit his schedule. The pick they give up is far in the future and may be a pick that isn’t worth much, leading the Spurs to trade him. Robert Covington would be a great option to continue as he fits well on any team as a 3 and D player. The Rockets recently lost GM Daryl Morey and could trade some pieces. They’ve lost several first-round picks in the past trying to contend, and
