Places To Eat At Destin – The Adventures of Gus and Kim Travel Adventures of Gus and Kim: The 10 Best Places to Eat in Destin (2018)
We have been vacationing in the Destin, Florida area since 1998. It is our favorite vacation spot, and one day we hope to vacation nearby. Since we spend so much time in the area, I thought it would be fun to share some of our favorite places to eat. This post was originally written in 2013, so I’ve updated it for 2018!
Places To Eat At Destin
If we could eat out once over the holidays, it would be at Harbor Docks. The food is out of this world, and you have a great view of the Destin Harbor. We have been eating here for at least 12 years and enjoy it now as much as we did then.

It can be a bit pricey depending on what you order, but it’s worth every penny. If you go to a place on my list, this is the one to choose. And if they have bread pudding for dessert, you have to try it! Lunch was amazing too!
This restaurant is not in Destin, but within walking distance. Also, you must visit Seaside! Owned by Chef Jim Shirley, it’s in the middle of Seaside, and we recommend sitting outside on the covered patio where you can watch all the action. You can read a full review at Adventures of Gus and Kim: Lunch in Seaside – The Great Southern Cafe.
I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu, but I especially like the ones served with grits!
Winner of Best Breakfast 11 years in a row, and it’s easy to see (savor) why. This is one of our favorite breakfast places, and we ate here more than once while on vacation. There are two locations in Destin, but you can find us on Grand Boulevard. You can read more in my review, Adventures of Gus and Kim: Breakfast in Destin – Another Broken Egg Cafe.

Grimaldi’s opened its first location under the Brooklyn Bridge in 1990. Their pizzas are New York-style (of course) and baked in coal-fired brick ovens to give them a trash can. My favorite! The one we visited was at Grand Boulevard Town Center in Miramar Beach near Sandestin. In fact, if you live in Sandestin and have a golf cart, you can drive directly to Grand Boulevard without taking the freeway. Well, you can do that with your car, but you know what I’m saying, right? And how beautiful is the decoration?
Gus would eat pizza every day if he could. My choice is better. But we love this pizza so much that we have it more than once when in Destin. And the desserts… yum. You can read my full review at Adventures of Gus and Kim: Dinner in Miramar Beach – Grimaldi’s Coal Brick-Oven Pizzeria.
This is another restaurant owned by chef Jim Shirley. And we love this place as much as we love the Great Southern Cafe. You can read my full review at Adventures of Gus and Kim: Lunch in Destin – The Bay.
We always stay on the bay side of the house, which offers beautiful views. They have a great outdoor seating area in the sand around the fire pit!
Easy And Fun Things To Do In Destin Florida
We ate at Harry T’s while at the Yacht Club, now located in Harborwalk Village right on the Destin Harbor so you can watch all the boats go by. You can’t beat the view, and the food is pretty good for “bar food”. But for us, eating here is better.
A little pricey, but I guess you pay for the experience! They also have super huge sundaes if you want to share an appetizer. And they sell beautiful shirts.
This is our new favorite and I can’t believe it took us so long to try it! We have lived in Sandestin for many years and often drive past the Linkside Conference Center with the Sunset Bay Cafe sign. I think we might have thought it catered to the corporate crowd. Well, you know what to do when you feel it! You can read my full review at Adventures of Gus and Kim: Breakfast in Destin – Sunset Bay Cafe.
This is probably one of the most popular places in Destin. And would you believe we vacationed in Destin for over 15 years before we tried it? It’s certainly a fun place, but be prepared for a lot of noise. The inside is covered in stacked dollar bills! We were there at night and it was very dark inside so please excuse the quality of the photos below. I’ll have to come back around lunchtime so I can take better photos!
Fudpucker’s Beachside Bar And Grill
One thing you can get: Irish boxtys! Here’s the menu description: “An old Irish favourite, “Boxty on the griddle, boxty on the skillet; if you can’t boxty you’ll never have a man.” and Flash Fried. Served with salsa, guacamole dip, and horseradish sour cream sauce.” Yes cool!! And you have to forget what kind of food you follow because this place is made of cars!
They have a juice shop on site. So yeah, I need to go back and try more beers. I had the Irish Red from McGuire and it tasted great with the boxtys.
Dewey Destin has two locations, but we only ate at the Harborside location. If you have a seat at the table, you will have a beautiful view like the one below.
We always get amberjack when we go there. Many times it is the catch of the day. At one point, the waitress told us that she had brought it out that morning. You can’t get more than that!
Donut Hole Destin
There are two locations in Destin, but we went to the Grand Boulevard Town Center in Miramar Beach. It’s funny, because I only agreed to go here for the beer menu. I’m not a (true) burger person, so when I found out how much I loved the food here, I was just as surprised as Gus!
I love the atmosphere here. I don’t know if the other place has the same vibe but this is just a cool low key type of bar. I love that AND I love how large their beer selection is (we try to drink local beer or Florida beer in Florida).
(Note: last time we were in Destin, there was a Craft Bar on 30A in Grayton Beach. It’s not listed on the Craft Bar website though, so I don’t know if it exists or not.)
They don’t have a website, but you don’t have to. This is another place that is always busy. There are three locations, but we generally eat on the beach in Santa Rosa. It’s bigger than the one in Destin and the traffic is better. When we first started vacationing in Destin, we always ate in the Destin area.
Dine At The Louisiana Lagniappe
We had breakfast and lunch, and the donuts (and other treats) were delicious! Get there early for the best selection!

We just got back from an AMAZING trip to Destin, FL. We haven’t been to Destin in over a year. We are so overdue for a relaxing trip to the beach! We stayed at the Hilton Sandestin. It’s a great location, right on the beach. You can’t win! We stopped three nights to rest and eat in the area. We hit some of our favorite places and ate at some new ones.

I couldn’t resist trying the Alabama Feta Dip. So good! Pita bread accompanies it
