Fresno State’s Dynamic Duo Too Much For Lobos
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ (subscription required). Radio broadcasts will be broadcast on the UNM Sports Radio Network. The flagship station is 770 AM/96.3 FM in Albuquerque.
These two people are meeting in court for the 141st time. UNM holds the series advantage with a 76-64 record.
The last time these two played on the hardwood was in December 2019, with the Lobos winning 69-62.
The New Mexico Lobos will look to snap a two-game losing streak when they visit the in-state rival New Mexico State Aggies on Tuesday night.
Lobos Land Sharpshooter As First Commit Of 2022 Class
This is the first time the two rival teams have played together in almost two years. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the two did not schedule each other last season.
The Lobos enter the game with a 4-3 record, having dropped both games at the Las Vegas Invitational last week, losing 86-73 to UAB before falling 73-58 at Towson on Friday night.
The Aggies enter the game with a 5-1 record after beating New Mexico Highlands 94-67 in their last game.
The close game is where the Lobos have struggled, so expect plenty of inside looks at NMSU.

Allen is averaging 16.3 points per game and has hit double figures in every contest this season. Rice averaged 12.2 points per game while scoring in double figures in all but one game.
The Lobos need to play clean and get some rebounds in this one to stay in the game.
New Mexico averaged 10 turnovers against Towson, but many of those were early turnovers that led to huge early turnovers for UNM.
Both units must be on the downside for the Lobos to have a shot.
Flye, Smith Leaving Lobo Women’s Basketball
New Mexico is in dire straits today. The Aggies are very experienced and this is the eighth game for most of the Lobos players. That means a bit of a crash on UNM’s part.
More will be needed from Jamal Mashburn Jr. appearing on the bill tonight.
It will be a big test for Mashburn and Jaelen House, who struggled last week in Vegas, to see if they can match the intensity brought by the two Aggies in Allen and Rice.
Now I have a feeling that NMSU will be very much in New Mexico. I have Aggies-79 Lobos-71. The scheduled men’s basketball series between New Mexico and San Diego State — Feb. 3 and 5 — was canceled because the Lobos did not have enough scholarship players to play, according to the release.
Men’s Basketball: New Mexico State Understands It Has Its Doubters
. The Mountain West requires teams to have seven scholarship players to play. New Mexico had eight scholarship players ready to play in Saturday’s 65-55 loss to Fresno State, but now it appears there will be six or fewer such players.
The Lobos say they may finish playing this season, adding that the New Mexico program has no known cases of COVID-19.
There are currently no reports of positive cases of COVID-19 in the Lobos program, and there is no indication that the Lobos (5-11, 1-11 Mountain West Conference) will play again this season.
Now, that doesn’t necessarily mean there aren’t positive COVID-19 tests or close contact concerns. But withdrawing money seems to be a big part of it. New Mexico has had three players sit out the season since August (one of them as a transfer) and

Reports that at least two more players can be selected. Interestingly, the report notes that withdrawals “may be requested by staff rather than all selection [players].”
Sources have confirmed to The Daily Mail that at least two other players are on the verge of announcing they will be out for the rest of the season, and it may be a necessity rather than a complete choice. Those players join the front three, who left in mid-August — senior guard Zane Martin (who transferred to Towson a few weeks before the start of the fall semester) and senior guard Keith McGee and a freshman point guard this offseason. Nolan Dorsey. Each team cited uncertainty surrounding UNM’s offseason status or mental health issues as reasons for leaving, but none of those players have spoken to the media for comment outside of their social media posts.
Mental health is an important, often overlooked factor, especially when disaster strikes. And especially when it comes to student athletes. These are young people between the ages of 18 and 22 who are not getting paid to play baseball (and few of them are getting paid to play baseball).
And the situation in New Mexico was especially difficult for the players. Lobos home games won’t even be played in New Mexico because the state’s public health order prevents in-state games during the pandemic. Instead, they are playing home games and practicing in Lubbock, TX.

In addition, the team under the head coach of Paul Weir played very badly. New Mexico is 5-11, ranked No. 280 out of 357 teams in Ken Pomeroy’s basketball rankings (New Mexico was No. 138 last season). The Lobos are 1-11 in conference play, with their only win coming against a San Jose State team ranked No. 319 in KenPom (and a loss against New Mexico San Jose State as well). It was a historically bad season for a regular season basketball program.
So it’s easy to see how the players and possibly the staff didn’t want to continue playing basketball in such a terrible situation, it was still a miserable situation for everyone.
New Mexico’s next series against the Mountain West in a two-game series in three days this season comes in February. and they are currently in the NCAA tournament. Also worth noting: what’s missing in these games is representing teams who have a lot going for them this season; It’s true that the race script doesn’t deserve to appear in New Mexico right now.
We’ll see if New Mexico can play Colorado State, along with series against Wyoming (Lubbock) and Air Force (and then there’s the Mountain West tournament to consider).
