Edmonton has evolved as a dining destination in recent years, offering a wide variety of options to satisfy the most discerning palate. Narrowing our list of Edmonton’s best restaurants down to 20 was no small task! But with the help of local culinary friends, the best online reviews, and our own taste tests, we’ve found the best ones to tantalize your taste buds.
Best Places To Eat In West Edmonton
“Eat off the beaten path,” said RGE RD, and eat, we will eat! RGE RD is one of Edmonton’s newest restaurants, and one of our favorites. Committed to using Canadian flavors as much as possible, the restaurant features ingredients from coast to coast, fields and mountains to oceans and forests. Expect ordinary people to be extraordinary here; what you might think is a simple dish is actually a culinary journey using seasonal ingredients.
Best Western Plus West Edmonton
Try the monkfish and mushroom salad, or if you’re feeling adventurous, try the “questionable pieces”…a way to cook whole animals to reduce waste. With an extensive menu that includes a farm-to-table experience, wood-fired cooking and whole-animal butchery, and a cool yet modern atmosphere, it’s easy to see why we love RGE RD so much.
Voted the best vegetarian restaurant in Edmonton, Padmanadi has two locations in the city. With a variety of dishes from Indonesia and beyond, open for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. Choose from large plates of curried vegetables and tofu, delicious coconut eggplant, and buckets of beet greens; they also have vegetarian “meat” for you to enjoy dishes like Kung Lao veggie chicken and soy meat strips.
You don’t have to be vegetarian or vegan to eat here; the food is amazing, regardless of your food preferences. The warm atmosphere and brightly decorated decor are just icing on the cake. The award-winning restaurant has decades of history, a testament to their excellent service, generous portions, and of course, delicious food.
If you love Cajun and Creole flavor, you’ve come to the right place. DaDeO New Orleans Diner and Bar is everything we love about Edmonton food: delicious, memorable, and great food. Taking pride of place among other local restaurants, DaDeO combines mouth-watering New Orleans cooking with a retro 50’s vibe.
The 7 Best Mexican Restaurants In Edmonton [2022 ]
Pile on a big plate of jambalaya while spinning a mini-jukebox at each table…what could be better than that? Try the Po’Boys (pork and blackened fish) with sweet potato gravy. And always save room for “gumbutin,” sweet potato wedges, cheese curds and gumbo. You can’t leave without trying the key lime pie.
What once began as a shop at Edmonton’s Downtown Farmers Market has evolved into Frida’s Urban Taqueria. It’s all about family and authentic Mexican street food here, and they really take it to the next level. Everything here is fresh and delicious. Their team makes every tortilla in the kitchen and their tacos, in our opinion, are delicious and close to eating tacos in Mexico.
Try the colorful Al Pastor (which we always go for), Suadero beef, and the ever-popular Carnitas. And of course there are vegetarian options, like our Camote, fresh salsa with sweet potato, kale and corn onion and cilantro. Most importantly, don’t forget to wash down your tacos with a Horchata or one of their signature Margaritas. Best of all, the week includes Frida on Tuesday and Margarita on Monday!
This is the place to go if you’re looking for creative small plates and beer pairings to go with them. Try dishes like the flavor explosion, the roasted duck confit, the peach pistachio salad, or the incredible cheese combination… all perfectly paired with the local beer (Blind Enthusiasm Brewing).

Don’t worry, there are non-alcoholic options! Located in Ritchie’s Market, Biera feels modern and contemporary, while always being a place to stay. Go here for a cool but unforgettable experience.
Yokozuna offers fresh flavors and quality ingredients. Serving Japanese food, visit here for lunch or dinner; however you go, it’s almost guaranteed to be busy because it’s so good. While we rave about their amazing starters, salads and wraps, the real draw at Yokozuna is the selection of sashimi and sushi.
Despite the simplicity of some dishes on the menu, when the quality of the fish is so high, you don’t need bells and whistles. Check out the ohzeki plates for both sashimi and sushi. And a fun fact:
If you’re in a rush for delicious, authentic BBQ, then MEAT is the place to come. This affordable and locally operated smokehouse is located in the heart of Old Strathona off of White Avenue. They offer homemade barbecue and hot sauces, side dishes, a casual dining room, and of course, FOOD!
The Rec Room
Their “Meat Specialty Sandwich” is a popular go-to, and so is the Brisket Sandwich. Feeling really hungry? Try the meat samples, which include 1/2 brownie, 1/2 order of pork, 1/2 pork ribs, 1/2 smoked chicken, fried chicken nuggets and sausage. Perfect for sharing (or all for yourself). Reserve the area with the butter and honey for the cornbread crust.
Located in the heart of the ICE District, Bramon’s is a great choice if you’re looking for a steakhouse in downtown Edmonton. Expect fine dining and all that comes with it: attention to detail, excellent service, and quality ingredients that can’t be beat, including premium Alberta beef. Try fresh cauliflower, boneless beef short ribs, or BC.
A wide selection of books means you’ll enjoy an inviting atmosphere late into the night. It is also a great location for those visiting the city, as it is located at the JW Marriott Hotel.
Good place to eat. With an emphasis on cask spirits and wood-fired food – the restaurant’s name – don’t be surprised if Woodwork becomes your favorite date night or spot on the town.

Perfectly combined with the food on offer and a well-stocked cocktail list, you can choose from bar snacks, small plates and mains to go with your drink of choice. Creative cocktails like Peter’s, Red Sea, and of course their signature Old Fashioned, Pork Ribs and Fried Chicken are also fun on any visit.
We are very picky when it comes to Thai food, so when you put Siam Thai Cuisine on our list, you can trust us! We followed the advice of our Edmonton peers and gave this restaurant a shot.
The menu has a delicious selection of delicious curries, stews and soups. We personally recommend the Seafood Pineapple Red Curry or the classic Pad Thai. If you’re not hungry, order the Thai Papaya Salad, or fill up on deep tofu – there are so many great options.
If you’re a Thai fan, this should be on your list of Edmonton restaurants. Goodbye Ka!
West Edmonton Mall In Edmonton, Alberta
Corso32 plans to open in mid-2022. It’s an intimate dining experience where you walk in as a stranger and become a friend. One of Edmonton’s top producers, chefs Daniel Costa and Matthew Guerin have created a menu that is “traditional in structure, modern in execution,” featuring Italian cuisine and Canadian influences.
Don’t be fooled by the small menu; each dish completes a true circle, bringing something new and exciting to the table. Not sure what to buy? There’s a tasting menu and a pasta tasting menu, and the excellent wine list ensures you’ll find the perfect accompaniment to whatever you order. Top it all off with excellent service and a cool atmosphere, and you’ve got your new favorite Edmonton restaurant.
Also worth checking out? Corso32’s sister restaurant, Uxelino, also has its own wine and snack bar, Bar Bricco. These three locations are all located next to each other on Jasper Avenue.
Places to go in town with great service and great food. Serving French cuisine in a beautiful and charming dining room, expect a wonderful wine experience every time you visit, from the first sip to the last bite.
