One of my favorite things to do at Fisherman’s Wharf is to see the sea lions at Pier 39. You will see a large group on the docks. These are protected sea lions and have lived on Pier 39 for decades. You can watch them bark, enjoy the California sun, jump, fight and swim. You can also see cute puppies and their mothers.

Several San Francisco Bay cruises depart from Fisherman’s Wharf, including the famous Alcatraz Island Cruise. Alcatraz was a famous federal prison where the world’s most dangerous criminals were imprisoned. Now it has been turned into a museum and is one of the attractions of San Francisco.

Visitors can purchase tickets for the tour at Fisherman’s Wharf. The cruise includes a boat trip to Alcatraz Island and an audio tour of the island. The island is located 1.25 kilometers from the coast. On the island, you can visit historical buildings such as the state prison, military fort and lighthouse.

On your second day in San Francisco, explore the city’s attractions, including winding Lombard Street and sprawling Chinatown. Of course, this is a day for the foodie in you. Dine at the city’s famous restaurants in the Ferry Building and enjoy a small tipple before munching on chocolate in the famous Piazza Ghirardelli.

The Embarcadero is the waterfront between Fisherman’s Wharf and the Boat Building Market. I love walking along the Embarcadero and looking at the city skyline. Take a stroll here and see some of San Francisco’s famous buildings, including the Coit Tower. Walk along Pier 14 to the beach and watch the locals fishing and hiking.

The Embarcadero is great for keeping up with activity around you. You can see and watch the ships and boats. Check out the sculptures along the walkway. Many cafes, restaurants and even museums are located near the Embarcadero. As you walk towards the ferry building, you can see the Bay Bridge in the distance.

The cable car takes you to the top of Lombard Street, which is great because it’s easier to go down this steep road than up. The staircase is at the end of the street and you can take pictures of the famous curves and beautiful houses on the way down. Head to Ghirardelli Square for some chocolate.

Ghirardelli Square was once the site of the Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory. The 15-meter-tall white sign in San Francisco’s Ghirardelli Square is one of the city’s most famous landmarks.

Although the factory is not here, Ghirardelli has 3 stores in the area. Our favorite place is the Original Ghirardelli Chocolate Market. They have hot chocolate, chocolate truffles, baking chocolate bars, and even hot fudge sundaes. The smell of chocolate wafts through the air.
