In this vegan food guide, we’ll tell you all about the places we visited on the island so you can get inspired for where to eat yourself.
Most of the restaurants in Nusa Penida are concentrated around the towns in the west and north of Nusa Penida.
Food prices are generally low compared to Bali. Taxes and service charges are usually not included in the invoice.

“Vegetarian” sounds more familiar than “vegan,” so if you want to veganize something, try explaining that you’re a strict vegetarian who doesn’t eat eggs, milk, or honey.
While veganism may be unfamiliar to whoever you’re talking to, the people we interacted with generally seemed to grasp the concept quickly.
And apparently the Balinese (including the people of Nusa Penida) really love their tofu and tempeh… Which is just a vegan traveler’s dream come true.

If you’re used to Balinese standards of vegan cuisine, the quality won’t blow your mind, but everything was delicious and arrived quickly.

We also had a vegan tempeh burger on a ciabatta bun. It was more like a sandwich; with aubergine, pepper and tempeh, but the taste was good and the bun surprisingly soft, served with a salad.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to visit Secret Penida, but apparently this cute cafe is a great vegan find in Nusa Penida.
