One bowl of banana bread is as easy as it sounds and all the ingredients can be added to one bowl and mixed together before baking in a greased loaf pan.

We prefer to start with the banana so that it mashes evenly in the bowl. Then it’s easy to add maple syrup and softened butter to mix it up.

We continue with the eggs we beat, then stir in the dry ingredients to finish the dough.

Banana bread likes to be cooked soft for a longer time, so we put it on the middle rack of the oven for 40 minutes at a slightly lower temperature.

Everyone asks me to make banana bread in a potluck and event, and this is our famous family recipe. And yes, I now make all-purpose flour all year round just for this one recipe. There are very few recipes that I would save for a completely different type of flour, but trust me, it’s worth it.

So what exactly is self-raising flour? Simply put, self-rising flour is a baker’s best friend.

That means no filtering! It also means fewer measuring glasses, easier prep, and baked goods (like those melt-in-your-mouth tumbling biscuits) that have the best fluffy and fluffy texture.
