Android 1 Plus – Does the OnePlus 8T do enough to stand out from OnePlus’ current range? Find out in our OnePlus 8T review!

The OnePlus 8T is a bit of a departure from its predecessor, with a design more in line with the company’s mid-range OnePlus Nord model. It’s a great smartphone with a lot going for it, but it lacks a top-notch camera and doesn’t do much to stand out.

The OnePlus 8T arrived at the end of 2020 with the slogan “Ultra Stops At Nothing”. For a phone that performs no better than its predecessor, those are bold words. Could a 120 Hz OLED display and Warp Charge 65 charging technology be enough? Find out inside

A newer version of this device is now available. OnePlus has launched the OnePlus 9 series, which follows the OnePlus 8T. While the OnePlus 9 Pro is the flagship offering, the OnePlus 9 is a budget flagship in the same mold as the OnePlus 8T. It has a redesigned design, a significantly improved camera and Qualcomm’s latest processor. We’ve given it our recommended award, so it’s worth considering. You can read our OnePlus 9 review here.

About this OnePlus 8T review: I spent a week with the OnePlus 8T as my primary device. It ran on Android 11 with Oxygen OS 11. The build number was 11.KB05BA. OnePlus has provided a review unit for the OnePlus 8T a

The Oneplus 10t Is Officially Launching Early Next Month

OnePlus 8T is a flagship smartphone of 2020 with a premium chipset. Its speed, powered by a pure software experience and a leading processor, is one of the best in its generation. It lacks crazy cameras, IP rating and unique design, instead focusing more on sheer speed and fluidity.

The OnePlus 8T, which launched at $749 but is now permanently discounted to $599, competes with the likes of the Google Pixel 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. These are devices with a lot of power for the dollar, but OnePlus has been successful in this area. The OnePlus 8T is also heading north and the OnePlus 9 from OnePlus.

If you’ve ever held a OnePlus Nord in your hand, the OnePlus 8T will make you feel right at home. From the curved rear glass to the flat display and shiny metal rails, they both look very similar. What has changed compared to the OnePlus 8? The rear camera module has been moved to the top left corner and the buttons have been moved down a bit.

Together, these small changes make the OnePlus 8T more generic. It does not stand out with its design. Instead, it stacks up against hundreds of other mid-range and high-end smartphones. Not that it’s a poorly designed phone by any means, but it won’t stand out in the store alongside the competition. More importantly, it won’t stand out from the significantly cheaper OnePlus Nord.

Nokia C01 Plus Announced With Very Low Price, Android 11 Go Edition

Looking at the device, there is a single microphone at the top. At the bottom is the dual-SIM card tray, USB-C port, microphone and speaker. On the left side is the volume control. On the right side is OnePlus’ signature mute switch and power button. On the back, in the upper left corner, there is a rectangular quad camera bump. It’s not particularly protruding, although it’s the first in the company to have a wider rectangular shape.

The OnePlus 8T feels great in the hand. The frosted glass back is very smooth and can be slippery if you’re not careful. This means that it is perfect for removing fingerprints. The shiny side rails are quite snug and offset the satin back nicely. The buttons are very tactile, the mute switch is more satisfying than ever, and the fingerprint scanner on the optical display is fast and accurate.

Unfortunately, the OnePlus 8T does not have an IP rating. At this price, OnePlus should have included it, especially considering that this device costs $50 more than its predecessor. It’s not all bad news, though. The tactile feel is crisp and tight, which is key to giving a flagship phone a premium feel.

The OnePlus 8T’s stereo speaker setup, which consists of an amplified earpiece and a bottom speaker, sounds pretty good. It gets loud and doesn’t distort until the last two volume notes. Even then, it’s not as much as you might think. The sound signature is full, with lots of detail.

The 6.55-inch Full HD Fluid AMOLED display hasn’t increased in size or resolution compared to the OnePlus 8, but it did get a nice jump in 120Hz refresh rate. Finding a significant speed difference between this and a 90Hz panel is difficult, but compared to a 60Hz display, the OnePlus 8T is exceptionally fast. This is most noticeable when scrolling, and Oxygen OS 11’s animations accentuate it.

The AMOLED screen offers high power and excellent contrast. The panel gets pretty bright with 471 nits, which makes it easy to see outside. Thanks to the switch to a flat display, the 8T’s glare is less of an issue than the OnePlus 8. I noticed it both in direct indoor light and in the sun.

The phone screen is set to Vivid mode. This is the best all-round mode because it keeps colors saturated without overdoing it. Other options include Natural and Advanced. In the Advanced menu, you can choose between Wide Gamut, sRGB and Display P3 color spaces.

Overall, the OnePlus 8T’s panel is an all-rounder. It’s not the sharpest, fastest or most accurate color. However, it balances the three well and is one of the best displays in its class.

Oneplus 8t Review Revisited: Should You Buy It Six Months Later?

OnePlus has decided not to upgrade its T series device to the Plus series chipset. That said, the OnePlus 8T isn’t faster or more powerful than the OnePlus 8. However, I’ve never thought that the OnePlus 8T needed a chipset more. rapid.

It’s also worth noting that others in this price range, the Asus Zenfone 7 and the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro, have taken the same approach by ditching the Plus model’s chipset. That’s not really surprising given the fairly minimal GPU-centric upgrades offered by the Snapdragon 865 Plus. on the Snapdragon 865.

Even compared to the Snapdragon 765G-powered OnePlus Nord, you won’t notice a daily speed boost unless you push your phone regularly. That’s not to say the Snapdragon 865 isn’t fast. However, if you’re a power user or mobile gamer, the 865 will deliver more frames and more power.

The OnePlus 8T is very fast for anything and everything you would use it for. Our OnePlus 8T review unit was the model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of smaller storage. It looked silky smooth throughout the review period. I played a mix of 2D and 3D games, endlessly scrolled through social media and took lots of photos. Nothing has been able to slow down the OnePlus 8T.

Of course, there are now Snapdragon 888 phones to choose from that technically outperform all OnePlus 8Ts. This means that only experienced users will notice the differences in the real world. The Snapdragon 865 chip is still powerful enough for a modern phone.

The battery has been moved to a 4,500 mAh cell that provides solid battery life. On the heaviest days, I saw close to six hours of screen use with 20% battery left. In its lighter days, this phone was a two-day device. My usage included a mix of LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity, 50-100% brightness and a good half hour of video consumption per day.

Warp Charge has also received an update. The OnePlus 8T comes with a Warp Charge 65 USB-C charger. This brick was able to charge the phone from zero to 100% in 39 minutes during our tests. It’s not the fastest we’ve ever tested, but it’s an improvement over the OnePlus 8’s 63-minute charge. Unfortunately, the OnePlus 8T does not come with wireless charging, which is a real downside.

OnePlus Oxygen OS is loved for its balance of stock fluidity and third-party functionality. However, with the OnePlus 8T, the company has changed the layout and look of the skin.

The OnePlus 8T comes with Oxygen OS 11 based on Android 11. The skin takes a new direction with a minimal look and some optimized animations. The first standout change is the new Always On Display. Instead of a simple, centered setup, the new version is offset by new clocks and a battery percentage logo. Three new modes are available: Bitmoji AOD, Canvas AOD and Insight AOD. Unfortunately, only the latter was available on our OnePlus 8T review unit. Insight AOD shows a breakdown of how many times you’ve unlocked your phone during the day in an initial graph.
